The Guess Closing Price website provides an internet based stock contest designed for two types of users that are commonly referred to as “Players” and “Spectators”. Players are the users who enter the competition and try to guess what price stocks are going to close at each day. Each player is allowed to enter guesses for up to 10 stocks per day. The players can enter or modify their guesses at anytime up until 3 hours before the stock market closes. The players receive points based upon how close their guess was, how early it was posted, and how many competitors were in each game. The points accumulate into a “score” that is based on the most recent 30 days of trading and the company provides cash prizes to the top 3 players each month.

The initial competition is opened to American stocks that are traded on the NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ. Traders can enter stocks from those exchanges into the games by an automated “suggestion box” and voting system.
